Thai Yoga Bodywork
Thai Yoga Bodywork is a therapeutic modality that blends accupressure, energy meridian work, and yoga-like stretches. Sessions are performed on the mat, fully clothed, accompanied by soothing music. The healing quality of Thai work is based on the system of Sen Lines which are energy channels that run throughout the body. These Sen Lines are similar to the Nadis of Ayurvedic medicine, and the meridians of traditional Chinese medicine. The deep, therapeutic stretching during the session helps to release any blocks of energy that may be causing pain or discomfort, and the result is a feeling of deep relaxation and wholeness. This is a great way to let go of unwanted tension for an overall sense of health and wellbeing.

Known as the ‘quiet Yoga’ these sessions guide individuals to sink deeply into the Yin experience. Poses are designed to work tight structures of the body, to increase flexibility, strength, and concentration. This practice invites vital energy (prana) to release chronic pain in the shoulders, back, hips and knees. Most postures are done on the floor to work deep connective tissue that may be storing stress or tension. Holding these postures for longer periods of time (up to ten minutes) is a quintessential principle of Yin Yoga. These longer held poses work on fascia (connective tissue) around the joints in the body, and assist in the exploration of deeply relaxing muscles. This also allows the practitioner to watch the subtle shifts of energy in both body and mind, while practicing the quality of surrender that can bring about profound transformation. The result: a more balanced, resilient and open perspective on all areas of your life. Bonus is the peace and calm that you will experience. Perfect for those looking to increase flexibility, resilience, and preparing the body for longer seated meditations.

Restorative Yoga is all about healing, soothing, and nurturing your Being. Yoga tells us that the body has an innate ability to heal itself, and Restorative Yoga offers the much needed rest and rejuvenation that we need in order to feel balanced and healthy once again. Oftentimes our high level of anxiety due to our busy modern lives can leave us feeling burnt-out, stressed-out or simply overwhelmed. Chronic pain, general anxiety, and/or dramatic changes due to loss and grief can also play a role in our lack of energy or motivation to change. It doesn’t have to be this way. Yoga’s goal is to bring contentment and joy back into our lives despite the challenges that we all must face. Restorative Yoga uses props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks and straps so the practitioner feels completely supported in everyway. Guided imagery and meditation through the postures reunite these feelings of disconnection to our greater sense of ‘Self’. This practice leaves you feeling nourished and well rested so we can feel more grounded, productive and connected to our lives.

For those seeking a holistic, alternative and complementary therapy for specific conditions. When Yoga is practiced with a therapeutic intention, it has the potential to alleviate symptoms of specific conditions and chronic issues. Please see my page “Yoga Therapy Defined” for a much more thorough explanation of the Yoga Therapy. If you are faced with symptoms of a condition, be it mild or serious, (from carpal tunnel to cancer) we can explore how Yoga Therapy may be able to help. In general, we can work on structural alignment of physical conditions for rehabilitation and re-education of body mechanics. We can apply Yoga Therapy to psychological (mental/emotional) issues such as depression, anxiety and grief through breath work, conscious relaxation and meditation. Yoga Therapy also offers much in the way of philosophy for spiritual issues, providing inspiration and a personal sense of purpose in life. As a Yoga Therapist it is my goal to offer professional, empathic and holistic guidance based on the ancient philosophy and discipline of Yoga. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions as to how Yoga Therapy may be able to assist you. I may not be able to help everyone, but I am certainly open to trying my best to see what we can do together.
I do work a sliding scale for those with serious conditions who are in need of alternative ways to manage physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual symptoms.

Mahalo Stacey for the gift of your Hawaiian Healing Yoga DVD. I have been practicing yoga for at least 20 years and this is first time I have been able to spend one hour doing yoga and not hurt myself. I heal in fact when I take the time to be with your DVD.

_______________________________________________________________________________These sessions work on the subtle energetic body to release tension on a visceral vibrational level. This is not a physical practice, but one where the receiver is able to consciously work to excavate 'holding and clenching' in the energy body. Very subtle healing touch, relaxing music, and crystal bowl sound vibrations are a powerful way to re-align the body, mind and spirit. Using Reiki energy & sound vibration, we will work together to release the psychic tension that is ready to let go. For those familiar with chakra energy work, this session is wonderful to reestablish personal boundaries and re-alignment to your center. The result: a sense of peace, relaxation, transformation and psychic shift.
