Aloha everyone,
I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada and I often say that I traded my ice skates in for a snorkel mask! I love Hawai'i!
As a child I dreamed of visiting the Hawaiian Islands. Just the thought of Hawai'i would evoke a sense of inspiration and adventure within me. Having lived here now on the Big Island for almost 14 years, I now know why I was so intrigued. Not a day goes by without feeling a special connection to this land.
I will forever be grateful to Hawai'i for offering me a soft place to land and heal.
Yoga has had the same transformative effect on my life, much like Hawai'i. The wisdom of yogic philosophy continues to deepen my experience of 'being', reminding me that each moment is an opportunity to awaken and live fully.
Teaching Yoga in Hawai'i has given me the blessed opportunity to meet people from all around the world. I have noticed that we are inspired to visit or live in the islands for the same reason we keep returning to the yoga mat. We're looking for that sense of "ahhhh....", a time and place to untangle the stress and tension that we have accumulated in our bodies, and in our minds. In doing so our hearts have an opportunity to open and expand, and we find that our practice has a healing effect on all those around us. As we discover how to heal ourselves, a ripple effect is set in motion and we learn that each one of us can make a difference.
My time with my teacher of 10 years still has a palpable influence on my daily life. He passed into the light in 2009, but I can still feel him close each day. It is my hope that his wisdom, kindness, and love come through my own healing style of work.
Not only did I fall in love with the Big Island fourteen years ago, but I also met and fell in love with my husband, Dan. Together we hold a vision for peace and healing in the world, especially during these times of accelerated change.
Mahalo and A hui hou!
